History

The German Wehrmacht was composed of three main branches, the Heer (Army), the Kriegsmarine (Navy), and the Luftwaffe (Air Force). The Heer and Kriegsmarine uniforms were based upon the designs utilized by their predecessor organizations, the Reichsheer and the Kaiserliche Marine (Imperial Navy). Conversely, the Luftwaffe uniforms were based upon the uniforms worn in the sports and paramilitary organizations that were the forerunners of the Luftwaffe. The Luftwaffe uniforms were specifically designed to deviate from the designs of the other Wehrmacht service branches. It was also necessary that the uniforms differentiate between military and civilian pilots.

The Luftwaffe Fire Brigades Visor Cap was worn by Luftwaffe firefighters who protected airfields and technical installations.

The cap is dark blue with a black cloth cap band. Above and below the cap band, as well as on the crown, the cap has crimson piping.

Civilians within the Luftwaffe Fire Brigade wore a black leather chin strap for lower ranks, and a silver chin cord for higher ranks.
A national emblem was worn, but not of the Luftwaffe style. Underneath, on the cap band, an insignia composed of a swastika encircled by oak leaves superimposed on four-folded wings was worn.
Officials within the Luftwaffe Fire Brigade wore the same setup, except that they wore the Luftwaffe insignia, a Luftwaffe eagle emblem and a cockade & oak leaves wreath with wings.
