History
The Potsdam Badge was instituted to commemorate the 1932 Potsdam Reich Youth Rally, which was attended by more than 100,000 members of the Hitler Youth and the League of German Girls.
At the Rally, Adolf Hitler commemorated members of the Nazi youth movement who had been killed after 1933. These individuals were framed as “young martyrs,” and likened to the noble dead of the First World War. Hitler insisted that the young adults had given their lives in the name of the new Germany and the ideals of National Socialism. These statements were to serve as inspiration for the generation at the rally.
The obverse inscription translates to, "National Socialist 1st National Youth Day 1932."
