History
The Badge was instituted by the Technical Emergency Service (TeNo) in 1934, and was conferred upon its members to award long service.
The Technical Emergency Service was founded during the tumultuous years of Weimar Republic, and was composed of volunteer members who responded to strike emergencies in Germany. Following Adolf Hitler’s seizure of power, the organization was transformed into a large emergency force with its own paid cadre. The TeNo was eventually absorbed into the police organization, and was later placed under the control of the SS. Ultimately the organization became part of the general SS and was filled the role of pioneering or engineering units.
The pin was deemed impractical as it did denote length of membership. As such, in 1935, it was replaced with the Technical Emergency Services Honour Badge.
The reverse of the pins are numbered and feature the mark "GES.GESCH".
