Ca. 50 awardings can be verified, which makes this one of the rarest awards of the Luftwaffe. Matching sets of Honour Salver and award document will greatly increase the value. Name and rank of the recipient are also an important factor in evaluating the price.

History

The Honour Salver of the Luftwaffe was established on June 15, 1942 by Hermann Göring. It was not awarded to pilots, but to Luftwaffe personnel engaged in ground combat. Those that showed outstanding bravery in the field, but weren't considered eligible for the German Cross in Gold, were awarded the Honour Salver instead. Prerequisites were to already have been awarded the Iron Cross 1st Class and the Luftwaffe Ground Combat Badge.
