History
No information is known about the institution of this award. However, since it was only awarded after three years of service, the earliest institution date would have been May of 1943. The award was accompanied by a document.
The short-lived 1st pattern is in the form of a white tile. It shows a red-brown Luftwaffe eagle with swastika over a red-brown inscription that reads: in recognition of special merits in three years of service in Air District Belgium/Northern France.
The 2nd pattern is in the form of a medal with a raised edge depicting a lion. Around the rim an inscription reads: the German nation must be preserved.
The reverse is framed with an oak leaf wreath with a small Iron Cross at the top. The inscription in six lines reads: for loyal services for the Air District Command Belgium/Northern France. Underneath is a Luftwaffe eagle with swastika.
The medal was awarded in a round cardboard box.
There is a wearable, smaller version of the 2nd pattern plaque with the same obverse, but a pin on the reverse. The size is about 21mm in diameter.
Fakes of this award are known to exist.
The German title of this award is "Luftgau-Plakette des Feld-Luftgaukommandos Belgien-Nordfrankreich".
