History
The decoration was planned to be established in 1944 by General Eugen Weißmann, but was never officially instituted. A few individual awards were given out to female auxiliaries, the rest was surrendered to the post-war American-run Air District Command VII in Stuttgart.
The plaque is actually a medal with a slightly raised edge. The obverse shows a Luftwaffe eagle with swastika superimposed over an outline of France, with the inscription "Alles für Deutschland" (everything for Germany) at the top.
The reverse carries an inscription inside a laurel wreath. The inscription reads: for loyal services to the Field Air District Command Western France.
A wearable version of this plaque exists, with the same obverse, but a stick pin on the reverse. It is hollow and has only half the diameter the plaque has, about 20.5mm
The German title of this award is "Luftgau-Plakette des Feld-Luftgaukommandos Westfrankreich".
