History
The award was instituted by commander of Air District Moscow, General Veit Fischer, most likely in 1942. It was awarded for merit during the winter campaign of 1941/42. Uniquely, it was made of red stoneware (Böttger Steinzeug).
The plaque is rectangular with a raised border. It shows a Luftwaffe eagle with swastika superimposed over a stylised sun over three onion-domed towers. Underneath, the inscription reads: for energetic commitment during the winter campaign 1941-1942 / the commanding general and chief of Air District Moscow / Fischer / General der Flieger.
The reverse shows two crossed swords for the maker, Meissen, and features the maker inscription "Staatlich Meissen / Böttger Steinzeug".
The plaque was awarded in a dark blue case with silver Luftwaffe eagle, with white interior and the Meissen crossed swords maker mark on the inside of the lid.
The German title for this award is "Ehrenplakette des Luftgaukommandos Moskau".
