History
There is no information on the institution of this award. Only a single specimen is known. GL stands for Generalluftzeugmeister (Chief of Aircraft Procurement and Supply).
The award is a square with a raised circle in the centre, which shows a 1st pattern "droop tail" Luftwaffe eagle with swastika over two crossed propeller blades, with the dates 1941 and 1943 and the letters G and L to the left and right, respectively, above an open laurel wreath. Around the edge of the circle the description reads: Motor Provision Detachment / Generalluftzeugmeister.
The reverse is semi-hollow and shows the maker mark "Estru".
The German title of this award is "Ehrenplakette der GL-Kraftfahr-Verfügungs-Abteilung".
