This is a very rare award. There is one example of the Red Cross Medal that features a gold monogram "E" for Elizabeth on the ribbon.

History

The Red Cross Medal was instituted by Grand Duke Friedrich August II and was awarded to men and women who demonstrated great merit through their work in charitable and civic services. It was also conferred upon voluntary nurses who selflessly cared for the sick and wounded during both times of war and peace.

Women wore the decoration on a bow ribbon.
