History
The War Honour Cross of the Honour League of German World War Participants was donated by the "Ehrenbund deutscher Weltkriegsteilnehmer e.V." in Munich. To acquire the award, one had to join the association as a member.
The award statutes state that all German soldiers who had participated in the World War and belonged to the "Ehrenbund deutscher Weltkriegspartner e.V." were eligible to receive it. Front fighters could request the cross with the addition of swords at the top. The cross was awarded with a certificate.
This single class award is in the shape of a Maltese cross. The obverse features the Imperial eagle with crown framed by a narrow oak leaf wreath in the centre. The shield in front of the eagle is enamelled in black/white/red. The two horizontal cross arms feature the inscriptions 1914 (on the left arm) and 1918 (on the right arm).
The reverse features the inscription "EHRENBUND DEUTSCH. WELTKRIEGSTEILNEHMER - E.V." ("Honour League of German World War Participants") framed by an oak leaf wreath.
The award was worn on the left breast, on a black/white/red ribbon.
