History

A.J Parkes & Co. Pty Ltd. Is the most prominent medallion and badge manufacturer in Queensland, and within Australia.
Parkes was a die sinker, and worked at the Royal Mint in London, England. He moved to Brisbane and founded his company at 3 Gregory Terrace in 1896. He produced medals, buttons and badges for both Government departments and armed forces. Eventually the business moved to Lower George Street in Brisbane but returned to Gregory Terrace for eleven years. Parkes retired in 1941, selling his business to Eric Faux. The company is still manufacturing Salisbury in 1961, under the Faux family.
