Samuel Arndt was born on April 19, 1812. He worked for Nikols & Plinke to learn the jewelry trade. In 1845, he became a master goldsmith and jeweller. He was married to Sophia Elisabeth Tegelsten in the same year. His workshop was located on Gorohovaja Uliza in St. Petersburg. He is known for making some Russian order insignia. Majority of his pieces are unmarked, but the few that are are marked with "S.A.". His name also sometimes appears on cased insignia. Samuel Arndt died on April 2, 1890.
