History
The Hazarajat, who were largely Shi'ite, rebelled against the Sunni Kabul government in the late 1880s. An expedition took place in 1891 of 15,000 men serving the Afghan Army. Eventually, they defeated the Sunni Kabul government after two years of activity. However, due to the Kandahar mullahs, who, on behalf of the Emir of Afghanistan, pronounced the Hazarajats infidels, they were reduced to slavery and their lands were resettled by Ghilzais loyal to Kabul.
