History

The Order of Friendship Between Nations was created on December 24, 1980, and awarded until 1992. The Order was presented to Afghanistan citizens in recognition of service in promoting and strengthening Afghanistan's relations with all people and foreign nations and for successful efforts in expanding Afghanistan's national economy. The Order is also awarded for contributions to the political development of the nation, to mutual enrichment and cultural exchange between the tribes and people of Afghanistan and to proletarian internationalism. Acts of devotion to the country, meritorious service in strengthening the Republic's defence power, and other general service provided towards strengthening friendship among peoples is also eligible for the award.

The obverse features an Arabic inscription which translates to "Democratic Republic of Afghanistan Friendship among Peoples."
