History
The Medal for Benevolence was instituted by King Fuad I by Royal Order in 1928. The award may also be known as the "Grace and Favour Medal" and was issued in 3 Classes. The Medal was created to reward loyal service and good conduct of a civil nature to the King or other members of the Royal family. Military and civil state servants may also have been eligible for the award in recognition of long and faithful service. The Medal became obsolete following the revolution in 1952.
The Silver Medal was awarded to denote 25 years or more of service.
The Medal may have been awarded without regard to the time restrictions to denote specific civil or military service.
There may be additional versions of the Medal which vary by the obverse design of the ruling King, however, more research is needed.
