History
The Order of Arts and Sciences was instituted on behalf of King Ahmad Fouad I by Governmental Law in 1953 and replaced the Order of Culture (see EGY107). The Order is conferred upon Egyptian citizens who have rendered outstanding services to Egypt in the field of arts and sciences. Contributions to scientific knowledge and scientific endeavours are also eligible for the award. The Order is conferred in 3 classes.
The Officer is presented as the II Class award of the Order. The Officer is worn from a breast ribbon which features a ribbon rosette.
The Officer features an obverse Arabic inscription which translates to the name of the Order, “Science and Arts.”
