History

The Police Active Service Medal (Nut al-Shurta lil Khidmat al-Ammal), or the Police General Service Medal, was instituted by King Ghazi of Iraq in 1939 to reward members of the Iraqi police force and auxiliary forces for active general service.

The Medal was modified following the establishment of the Iraqi Republic in 1958, and may also be known as the Police National Service Medal (see IRQ125).

The Medal features an Arabic inscription on the obverse which translates to "Faisal II" as well as on the reverse which translates to "Police General Service Medal."
