History

The Ma'an Medal (Midalat al-Ma'an) was established by King Hussein I of the Hejaz on May 5th, 1918. The Medal is awarded to members of the Arab Army and other irregular forces in recognition of service in the battle of Ma'an, a town later ceded to Jordan, between April 16-22, 1918.

The Medal features an Arabic inscription on the obverse which translates to "Ma'an 1337" corresponding to the period of October 7, 1918, to September 25, 1919.
