History

The Medal for Public Service in the Sultanate of Oman (Midalat Sharat al-Kidmat al-'Ama fi Saltanat Oman) was instituted by King Hussein in October 1976. The Medal was awarded to members of the Jordanian Armed Forces in recognition of service during the Dofar Operation in Oman from 1974 to 1977. Engineering troops may also have been eligible for the award.
