History

The Medal of Training Competence (Midalat al-Qatawat al-Tarir bet) was established by King Hussein in 1986. However, the award for Training Competence was initially established as a streamer, which attached to a unit's regimental flag, by the General Headquarters of the Jordanian Armed Forces in 1976. Recipients of the original award were also entitled to wear a ribbon. The award was created to recognize a unit's maintenance of a high level of military training, sporting prowess, and physical fitness.
