History

The Al-Hussein Decoration for Distinguished Service was instituted by King Hussein in 1976. The Order was created as an award for distinction and achievement. Service in philanthropy, literature, arts, science, scholarship and education, industry and commerce, and public service is eligible for the award. The Order is believed to be issued in 3 Classes.
