History

The Saudi Arabian version of the Kuwait Liberation Medal was instituted by King Fahd ibn Abdulaziz and awarded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to members of the coalition forces that fought in the liberation of Kuwait in 1991.

The medal is also known as "Naut Tahrir al-Kuwait".

This version of the medal is considered rarer than the Kuwaiti version, because it recognizes service in a relatively short period of time while the Kuwaiti version is granted for service over three years.
