The Decoration was awarded in 5 Grades to Officers of the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces in recognition of distinguished service and outstanding achievements in the field of combat. Officers who have demonstrated excellent efficiency during peacetime may also be eligible for the award. The Decoration became obsolete by 1971.
