History
The Medal for the Liberation of Kuwait was authorized by King Fahd ibn Abdulaziz by Royal Decree in 1991. The Medal was awarded to Saudi Arabian military personnel, or members of the coalition forces, in recognition of service in the Liberation of Kuwait between January 17, 1991, and February 28, 1991. Troops of friendly foreign states were also eligible or the award of the Medal. The Award was also instituted by a variety of other foreign allied countries, each having their own eligibility criteria.
When worn as a ribbon only, a gold emblem of Saudi Arabia is authorized for wear on the ribbon.
The Medal features both an Arabic and English inscription on the obverse which reads "Liberation of Kuwait."
There may be additional versions of the Medal which differ by design and composition. The design of the Medal is expected to vary by manufacturer.
