History

The Union Order was instituted on February 16, 1958, in commemoration of the formation of the United Arab Republic composed of Egypt and Syria. The Order is presented to all members of the Syrian Armed Forces who served during the formation of the Arab Republic on February 1, 1958. Civilians may also be eligible for the award.

The Order features an Arabic inscription on the obverse which translates to "United Arab Republic We Will Protect It", as well as on the reverse which translates to "Anniversary of the Establishment of the United Arab Republic 13th Rajb 1377-1st February 1958."
