History

The Medal Sukhrat was instituted on May 5, 1994. The Medal is awarded to citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan in recognition of labour merit or services provided towards the development of Uzbekistan economy, science, and culture. Patriotic Service towards the education of the younger generation and commitments towards the ideas of national independence and social progress also qualify for the award. Non-citizens may also be eligible.

Recipients of the Medal are also entitled to a one-time monetary award made in the amount of 5 times the minimum wage.

The Medal may also be awarded posthumously.
