History

The Hero of Uzbekistan (O‘zbekiston Qahramoni) was established on May 5, 1994, and is conferred as the highest national award of the Republic of Uzbekistan and as an honourary title in recognition of heroic deeds and exceptional services provided to the government and people of Uzbekistan. Both citizens and foreigners may be eligible for the award. Approximately 50 Gold Stars have been awarded since the Order's institution.
