History

The Order of May 22 was established in April 1991, to commemorate the unification of the Yemen Arab Republic (North Yemen) and the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen (South Yemen); which formed the Republic of Yemen on May 22, 1990. The Order is conferred as the Republic of Yemen's second highest award and is presented in 3 Classes.
