History

The Unit Citation for Gallantry was established on 15 January 1991 and is awarded to Australian military units that demonstrate gallantry in action. The unit as a whole is awarded the citation and each member is issued an insignia that denotes that their unit has been honoured with the citation.

The insignia is a silver-colored frame that surrounds a dark green ribbon. If an individual was serving with the unit when it received the citation, they are issued an insignia that features a Federation Star emblem in the centre of the ribbon. These recipients are entitled to continue wearing the insignia after they leave the unit.

If an individual joined the unit later, they are entitled to wear the insignia without the Federation Star for as long as they are with the unit.

To date, 4 units have received the citation.
