History
The Samoa Cross was instituted by the Legislative Assembly of Samoa by the Honours and Awards Act on August 25, 1999. It is conferred upon citizens, or foreigners in the form of an Honorary Award, in recognition of acts of the greatest valour and performances of exceptional courage during dangerous circumstances where the recipient demonstrates a disregard for personal loss of life. It may also be awarded post-humorously.
Recipients are entitled to the post-nominal letters SC.
The award is accompanied by a certificate, a miniature version of the medal and ribbon, and a monetary payment of $2000.00.
