History
This medal was instituted during the reign of Alexander II in commemoration of the defence of Sevastopol by the Russian Army and Navy. It was conferred upon personnel of all ranks, as well as civilians, who defended Sevastopol.
The obverse features twinned ciphers of Nicholas I and Alexander II. The reverse inscriptions translate to: "From 13 September 1854 to 28 August 1855" and "For the Defence of Sevastopol".
