History
The Title "Mother Heroine" was established on July 8, 1944, and the Order was established on August 18, 1944. This Order was conferred upon women who had raised a large number of children (10 or more). By 1991, nearly 500,000 have been awarded.
The decoration is made of gold, silver and red enamel, measuring 28.5mm in diameter. There are three rivets on the reverse to connect the gold star to the silver star. There are three variations.
The variation I Monetny Dvor makers mark is stamped with a hand engraved serial number. The serial numbers range from 1 to 37,000.
The variation II Monetny Dvor makers mark is raised with a hand engraved serial number. The serial numbers range from 40,000 to 85,000.
The variation III Monetny Dvor makers mark is raised with a rotation tool engraved serial number. The serial numbers range from 90,000 to 455,000.
The obverse Russian inscription translates to: "Mother Heroine".
