History

The Distinguished Service Medal is awarded to Cabo Verdean military personnel in recognition of various services rendered to the Armed Forces. These services include campaign service, rescue mission service, acts of bravery and heroism, military education, command of military troops, military science and technology, as well as the completion of books, memoirs, and reports of military significance. It may be awarded to civilians and foreigners, but only under exceptional circumstances.
