The Military Order of Karyenda was established by King Mwambusta IV in 1962. It was conferred upon Burundian military personnel for meritorious service rendered to the nation, but it is no longer awarded.

The obverse inscription translates to "The King Reigns and Rules," and the reverse inscription translates to "Kingdom of Burundi."
