Instituted in 1989. Type I with Uniface Suspender. In nickel-silver, number impressed "014121" on the reverse, measuring 38 mm (w) x 38 mm (h), original ribbon, extremely fine.
This medal is conferred upon members of the South African Defence Force in recognition of operational service outside of South Africa, during the South African Border War (1966 to 1989), and during the Angola Campaign (1978 to 1988).
