A five armed Maltese Cross with ball finials and scaled details, presenting three silver laurel leaves in each quadrant, obverse centre exhibiting a five-pointed star surrounded by an enameled blue border with the inscription CAMPAÑA DE LIMA 1881 (Lima Campaign 1881) in silver gilt, reverse featuring a similar star surrounded with a blue enameled border inscribed REPUBLICA DE CHILE (Chilean Republic) also in silver gilt, measuring 40.55 mm (w) x 45.08 mm (h - inclusive of integral ring), presenting toned silver and lost of gilt, missing ball finial on the 1 o’clock arm, with blent ball finial on the 5 o’clock arm, accompanied by original ribbon with horizontal pinback hanger, good condition.
The Star for the Lima Campaign (Estrella por la Campaña de Lima) was authorized to recognize the Chilean and allied military personnel who participated in the landing of the Chilean army in Lima during the Peruvian Campaign in the Pacific War (1879-1883).
The Star was established with three grades denoting the recipient's rank. People who were ranked as Officers were able to receive Class II.
The star was usually awarded with clasps denoting the battles that the recipient fought during the campaign. These clasps were:

2. CHORRILLOS
3. MIRAFLORES
4. SAN FRANCISCO
5. TARAPACA
