The Argentinian Nation to Those Who Died in Combat Medal (Medalla de la Nación Argentina al Muerto en Combate) was instituted in Argentina by the government of the Fourth Military Junta on the 15th of June, 1982. It was founded to commemorate the soldiers who died in action against Great Britain at the Falkland War (Guerra de las Malvinas) in 1982.
The Medal was suspended in 1985 along with the change of government. Although, it was reinstated by decree of the new government on the 10th of December, 1991.
The Medal has been awarded to the relatives of the Argentinian military personnel who died in combat through remarkable events in defense of Argentina.
This Medal is the third most prestigious military decoration in Argentinian Army Forces (A.R.A.).
The Medal features an obverse inscription that translates to "Who Died Heroically in Combat A.R.A.”
This Medal was conferred upon those who died in the sunk of the Cruiser General Belgrano on the 2nd of May, 1982 by the British submarine Conqueror. On this event, 323 Argentinian soldiers lost their lives.
