    History

The Medal to the Winners of Montevideo (Medalla de los Vencedores de Montevideo) was authorized in Argentina by the United Provinces of the Rio de la Plata on September 9, 1814. It was established in recognition of those who took part in the siege and capture of Montevideo between 1812-1814 led by the national hero Admiral Brown.

It is not clear if the composition of this Medal denotes a specific rank.

The Medal has been designed with multiple models that differ in inscriptions and graver's marks.

These medals were manufactured mainly in the mints of Potosí and La Plata.
