History

The San Luis Conspiracy Medal (Medalla de San Luis) was established in Argentina by the United Provinces in 1819, in recognition of the military personnel and citizens who prevented the escape of Spanish prisoners of the city of San Luis on February 8, 1819.

The composition of the Medal denotes the rank of the recipient. The gold Medal was conferred upon Chiefs, the silver Medal was conferred upon Officers, and the bronze or white metal Medal upon enlisted men.

The Medal features an obverse inscription that can be translated to "TO THOSE WHO DEFENDED THE ORDER AT SAN LUIS" and a reverse inscription that translates to “FEBRUARY 8, 1819.”
