    History

The Proclamation Medal (Medalla Oficial de la Proclamación del rey Fernando VII) was established by the Viceroy of Latin America as a sign of loyalty to the King of Spain Carlos VI, and his son Fernando VII, once they were imprisoned by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1808 during the Napoleonic Wars.

The main Viceroys in Latin America authorized different designs of this Medal. In Bolivia, the medal were struck in the mint of Potosí. The Potosí mint was the largest mint of the Viceroys in Latin America during colonial era.

The Medal features both inscriptions in Latin.
