History


The Order of Military Merit (Orden al Mérito Militar) was established in 1991 as the replacement of the Order of Military Merit of the Lieutenants of Artigas which was discontinued in 1985. Currently, it is the highest decoration within the Uruguayan army.

The Order has three grades, I Class, II Class, and III Class.
