History

The Order of Civil Merit (a.k.a. Order Dionisio de Herrera to the Civil Merit of the Republic of Honduras) was established in Honduras by decree in 2001. It was founded to reward citizens who have displayed outstanding and extraordinary contributions that foster the country proud, and the bonds of friendship, cooperation and solidarity among nations.

The Order consists of five grades: Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Official, and Knight.
