Star of the order, featuring ten distinct arms, each composed of clusters of individual rays, arms alternating between smooth and faceted finishes, obverse centre presenting a gilt portrait of Carlos Manuel Cespedes with a blue enamel border which states Carlos Manuel Cespedes 1868 (Year of Cuban Independence), outer gilt wreath with red enamel ties as well as ten silver rays represented by crashing waves, reverse with dual stays and principle pin assembly hallmarked on catch with boars head denoting French small silver guarantee post 1838, marks marked on pin for Adrien Chaubillon, Paris, measuring 86.3 mm (w) x 89 mm (h), with toned silver, light contact to obverse enamels, very fine.
The Order was conferred in recognition of extraordinary merit and service to the Republic of Cuba.
This Order was named after the Carlos Manuel de Cespedes for his efforts in the Cuban War of Independence.
