Cuba, Socialist Republic. An Order of Julio Antonio Mella
(Orden "Julio Antonio Mella"). Six-piece construction, heavily-plated bronze with silvering, gilt and red enamels, measuring 43.8 mm (w) x 47 mm (h) inclusive of its integral ring, original ribbon, mounted to a five-sided brass suspension with pinback, intact enamels, in its plastic case of issue, extremely fine.
This Order is conferred upon Cuban and foreign youth in recognition of outstanding merit in the arts, or in education in the arts, sports, or literature.
It is also awarded in recognition of the support of achievement of Cuban and foreign youth, as well as the practice of proletarian internationalism.
