History


The Air Corps Ballon Pilots Wing was initially established by the United States Army and the United States Air Force as the "Aeronautic Badge" or the "Balloon Observers Wings" in 1918. Between 1930 and 1940, the Pilot's Wing was redesignated as the "Ballon Pilot Wing" and issued by the United States Army Air Force during the Second World War.

The Pilot's Wing was issued in senior and junior grades, however, the distinguishing criteria is uncertain.
