    History


    The United States Expert Rifleman Medal was established alongside the United States Expert Pistol Shot Medal in the 1920's or 1930's as an incentive to recognize outstanding rifle marksmanship. The Bronze Medal is awarded to Navy and Navy Reserve personnel who qualify as an expert in rifle shooting by obtaining a superior score in an approved weapons qualification curse.

    A bronze "E" emblem device is awarded with the Medal for wear on the ribbon when the ribbon is worn alone.
