History

This medal was conferred upon members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces who were killed during the Liberation War of 1971. It is the highest gallantry award in Bangladesh.

There have been seven recipients of this medal to date.

It may also be known as the Bravery Medal. The Bengali title of this medal may be roughly translated to The Most Valiant Hero.

The obverse features Bengali script.
