History

The Order is conferred upon foreign and Bhutanese citizens that have provided extraordinary contributions to the political, religious, and socio-economic growth of Bhutan.

The Order is also known as the Order of Druk Thuksey, or the Order of the Son of the Heart of the Thunder Dragon.

The Order was redesigned in 2008, and all classes except the I Class Badge and I Class Breast Star, were discontinued.
