Japan, Occupied Manchukuo. An Imperial Visit to Japan Medal, c.1935
Instituted in 1935. In silver, measuring 30 mm (w) x 41.8 mm (h) inclusive of its integral suspension, scattered tarnishing, original ribbon with hook and eye, near extremely fine.
This medal was conferred during the period of the Japanese Empire's control over the "puppet state" of Manchukuo. It was awarded in commemoration of the visit by Manchurian Emperor Pu Yi to Japan in April 1935.
The obverse features Japanese characters, which translate to "One in Virtue and in Spirit". The reverse Japanese characters translate to "Kang Teh 2nd Year, Manchukuo Empire, Emperor’s visit to Japan Commemorative Medal, 4th Month, 6th Day".
