May also be known as the "Remote Area Service Medal". This award ceased to be issued in June 2008 with the abolition of the Nepalese monarchy.
Conferred upon individuals in recognition of service in the Himalayas.
The obverse features the Himalayan Mountains, Nepalese flag and an inscription in Nepalese. The reverse features a Nepalese inscription and is dated "2020" (V.S. 2020 = A.D. 1963).
